ABSTRACT
Lesions of the hand and wrist in tennis players can occur in both acute events, such as a fall or, more commonly, tissue failure due to overuse or attritional factors in more chronic injuries. Since the wrist/hand unit is so critical to successful play in the player’s dominant extremity, it is important to often involve the hand specialist early in assessment and treatment. A missed diagnosis can be disastrous, but early intervention via minimally invasive treatments is now possible and should be understood by the medical team charged with the care of the tennis athlete.
